Benediction Nuptiale - Saint-Saens

A quiet voluntary, suitable for a large cathedral-style building.

Full Title Benediction Nuptiale, Op. 9, by Camille Saint-Saens (1835 - 1921)

Notes An atmospheric, episodic piece (read 'wandering'), largely quiet - it probably sounds great in the Église de la Madeleine, where Saint-Saens was the titular, and it would work best in a large building with 'atmosphere'. Liszt said that he was "was the greatest organist in the world".

We tend not to approach weddings in an atmosphere of reverential calm these days, so this piece might be best left to the concert hall.
